Long Island City, New York July 13, 2011 -
On Monday, July 18th the Hunter’s Point South Redevelopment Project will implement a temporary detour on Center Boulevard/50th Avenue between 49th Avenue and 2nd Street. The detour is necessary in order to allow for installation of a new 15” storm sewer down the middle of 50th Avenue because the street is not sufficiently wide to allow for construction and maintaining traffic flow simultaneously. The detour will involve a full closure weekdays during construction hours. Nights and weekends, a single traffic lane (south then eastbound) will be maintained. (Refer to the attached diagrams.) We expect the detour to remain in place approximately one month.
In preparation for the detour, parking will be eliminated on both sides of 50th Avenue (Center Boulevard to 2nd Street) effective 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 14th. Please relocate your vehicle by 7:00 a.m. Vehicles are subject to towing.
