One special event in Queens is the annual Dragon Boat Festival on Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. It is a tradition now in its 21st year. This August 4 and 5, 2012, over 170 teams will compete for $60,000 in prizes. Each team competes by rowing a "dragon boat," a narrow boat decorated like a Chinese dragon with a colorful head and tail.
