Long Island City, New York October 26, 2011 -
Stere Farmache, President of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, visited New York City on a finacial / trade mission to explore opportunities for Romania. OurLIC met Farmache at a trade event held at Bucarest Restaurant in Sunnyside. The event was a gathering of ninety of Zero International customers from all over the globe.
Romania has a low unemployment rate, and has been growing. One distinct difference in its economy is that it never became part of the Eurozone, and its governmenr policies have avoided the type of debt that is crippling many countries worldwide.
In an OurLIC video interview, Farmache explains the strengths of the Romanian economy, discusses industries for opportunity investment, and explains his interest in exploring capital markets in the US.
What also strikes home is that the Borough of Queens, with its important international and multicultural restaurants like Bucharest Restaurant, is a world center of commeece and trade influence. The impact of Queens, because of its immigrant business population and home to leaders, is perhaps an underestimated resource of NYC. Long Island City plays a key role in this mix of diplomacy, trade, finance, and business. Leaders like Vasile Badaluta, Chief Editor of the Romanian Journal newspaper and Producer of the Romanian Voice TV, and Elias Wexler, President, Zero International and NY Chapter Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce play a vital role.
Zero International's guests were visiting New York City and attending an international trade exposition at the Javits Center. The hospitality event was extraordinary and included a performance by world acclaimed opera Soprano, Oleksandra Nrabeva.
The video conversation is presented with this article. Watch here for highlights and additional information.
