Long Island City, NY April 6, 2012 -
EARTH DAY in Long Island City is coming April 28.
More than a celebration, EARTH DAY is a nationally recognized day dedicated to reducing pollution and to recycling in the United States. It’s one day to inform and educate, one day to get our neighbors, friends and community leaders excited about recycling.
Guardian Data Destruction will be hosting the event with the support of OurLIC, The Nick Vaglica Agency of Nationwide Insurance, New York Minute, Alma Bank, LIC - Astoria Lions Club, Long Island City / Astoria Chamber of Commerce, Bigcitygraph-x, and others. Together they will be the hosts of a computer and electronic products recycling event in LIC.
Guardian Data Destruction, along with sponsors, held a similar event on November 18, 2011 [ 2,500 lbs of eWaste were Disposed at the America Recycles Day in Long Island City event November 18, 2011 ]
The April 28th EARTH DAY event will be located on Center Blvd at the Gantry Plaza State Park between the hours 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. This will allow community children, out of school, to participate in the recycling by bringing their old game boy’s or game with their parents with their old computers to the event.
This event will be like no other in which Guardian Data Destruction will be providing free computer recycling and free On Site Data Destruction to prevent any personal information leaking from the hard drive in the computers that are being recycled.
Plug in to E-cycling. We live in an electronic age and that’s creating a lot of electronic waste. Now law in New York, both for consumers and business, is the end of curbside discarding of computers and electronics. Items that will be accepted at the LIC Recycle Day are computers, printers, monitors, cell phones, ink cartridges and small electronics components. Events like this will educate and off a solution for e waste. Businesses can contact Guardian Data Destruction for on hard drive erasure or shredding services and recycling programs.
The Long Island City Lions Club will be collecting eyeglasses for re-distribution at this event. The Club is also offering attendees an opportunity to donate to a fund that has been established to improve access to health care in Long Island City.
