Long Island City, NY October 30, 2012 -
The Hunters Point neighborhood was punished by Hurricane Sandy. Photos show high flooding, which brought water inside the Citylights lobby.
One photo provided by Brent O'Leary shows water nearly up the the driver side window of cars parked along 48th Avenue near Gantry State Park.
The most severe area of flooding, based on reports, was between 47th Road at 5th Street and the area known as Hunters Point South.
Eyewitness reports called to OurLIC say that St. Andrews Playground is destroyed, and that all but three trees are down in the playground area.
There are unconfirmed reports that damage was severe at some locations.
