Long Island City, NY October 31, 2012 -
The Waterfront Crabhouse has suffered yet another tragic event.
Located near the lowest land area of Hunters Point almost adjacent to the East River, The Waterfront Crabhouse had flood water as high as its bar during the Hurricane Sandy flooding. Two feet of water remain in the basement as of 10/31.
This "institution" and community center was hit by a similar flooding during Hurricane Irene, and suffered a major fire in 2009.
The Waterfront Crabhouse is designated as NY State's Boxing Hall of Fame, and is the regular meeting place for RING 8 members. The restaurant has been the home of, and regular meeting location for, the Long Island City / Astoria Chamber of Commerce.
Prayer go to Tony Mazzarella, Bobby, Kris, and everyone at the Crabhouse. WE ALL wish a speedy and full recovery.
