Long Island City, NY November 4, 2012 - Ann Leggett reports that the DOT has removed the dangerous lamp post. A crew responded after DOT was alerted to the problem. -------------------------- November 3, 2012  - A lamp post, unsecured at the base, located at Jackson Ave and 47 Ave in Long Island City next to a Bus Stop and near a Subway stop, appears ready to fall at any moment. Resident and well known artist, Ann Leggett sends photos to OurLIC and reports "I and others have been trying for days to get the authorities to do something about a potentially very hazardous situation here in LIC.On Jackson Avenue,between 47th Avenue and 47th Road,a lamp post was knocked loose from its base during the worst of Sandy's wind.As of today,it is still leanlng," She adds that "The bad news is that a guy from those trucks said they were there to work on the subway."That's for 'Lights', not us, "he said,shrugging.I went to the deli on the corner,where an MTA guy was buying something.He showed more concern and said he'd report it.A little later,on 21st St.,I told some firemen about it.They asked if I'd called 311.When I said that I and others had, they shrugged and said that it was probably a low priority."
