Ring 8 Annual Awards Attracts Over 500

On December 18, 2011, over 500 people attended the Ring 8 Annual Awards Banquet held at Russo on the Bay.

Long Island City, New York December 18, 2011 - Before a crowd of over 500 attendees, Alicia Napoleon, Golden Gloves Champion and artist, sang her inspired version of The National Anthem to open the Annual Ring 8 Boxing Awards Ceremony. It was just the beginning of this annual event that celebrates Champion Boxers, Trainers, Officials, Promoters and all of the supporting members of boxing's superstar community. Attendance was the highest for the organization's annual event and reflects a growing resurgence in interest in the sport of boxing. Under the direction of its Board, and the New York State Athletic Commission, Ring 8 provides boxers with basic health benefits and aupport for boxers who have fallen on hard times. Most of the members are retired former professional boxers and avid fans. One third of the members are fighters. The group meets monthly at The Waterfront Crabhouse in Long Island City on the third Tuesday of each month. The restaurant displays the finest collection of boxing memorabilia. New York City has been boxings capital for almost 50 years.
