The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce and Sunnyside Shines (BID) combine forces Annually to bring residents and restaurant owners together for a "Taste of Sunnyside".
On Monday night, October 15th they will turn the Sunnyside Community Center into a food court, offering resident foodies a way to sample offerings from local Thai, Mexican, Turkish, Italian, and other restuarant cuisines.
This is a local showcase of what is considered the world's premier foods and drinks. For a small community, Sunnyside has amazingly good and diverse restaurants and they want to get the word out.
The event is held at Sunnyside Community Services Center at 43-31 33rd Street on the ground floor. There are two sessions planned. The first is from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. The second is from from 7:15 pm - 8:45 pm.
Tickets are sold for each of two sessions. An estimated 500 people participate. Approximately 50 restaurants participate by sampling food and making special offers from their table.
In addition to the restaurant tables, community leaders and elected officials at all levels of government are on hand to give the event a special boost of excitement.
OurLIC attended the event in 2011 and presents a video and photo review of that event with this article.
Bon Appetite! Sunnyside is a community that is rich with a multicultural setting. It boasts many authentic cuisines from around the world, and has recently been enjoying a rejuvenation as a trendy place for professionals.
Like Woodside, the community is not only fed by great restaurants, pubs, and clubs, it is also fed by the 7 Subway line and Queens Blvd.
