Council Member addresses women's crime prevention and self-defense class
On September 19th, Council Member Peter F. Vallone Jr. attended "Shine A Light on Safety," a women’s crime prevention and self-defense class sponsored by the New York AntCrime Agency, the 114th Precinct, Safe Horizons and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
During the class, women in attendance were provided with safety tips, and a self-defense demonstration was presented by Toni Meloni, the Director of the New York AntiCrime Agency.
"With our police force dwindling and overburdened and crime rising across the City, women need all the protection they can get," said Council Member Vallone. "Seminars like this are a great way for women to defend themselves from the many deviants that target them ~ whether they are gropers on a bicycle, molesters on the subway or worse."
