PERFORMANCE REVIEW ~ Loyalties

Loyalties by John Galsworthy, author of The Forsyte Saga. Performed by the Unity Stage Company at The Parlor at Cassino Restaurant through January 2010.

Long Island City, NY January 7, 2010

From the moment that the lights go on, you know that a totally professional cast is about to weave an interesting story.

You are never disappointed.

Author John Galsworthy and the performers take you through the twists and turns of "loyalty", love, trust, discoveries, and disappointments among friends, family, lovers and professionals....in a way that only the British can portray it.

The play could just as well have been titled "Honor", a theme that is constantly connected to loyalty to emphasize its importance and the relationship between the meaning of the two words. Without loyalty, there is no honor.

The plot is an interesting little mystery, that, itself, is solved only after a minor character tugs with the choices between honor and loyalty>.

The performers were simply OUTSTANDING!! We'll profile them and post photos below.

There are some other social issues thrown in, but the substance and focus is not missed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of LOYALTIES and am glad that Cassino Restaurant was available to the Unity Stage Company.

Their "parlor" made for an intimate theatre that brought home the message of LOYALTIES.

The performance was professional and the performers were talented. It definitely rates a "Don't Miss it in LIC!"

Finally, I especially enjoyed mingling with the Actors after the show. Cassino Restaurant has a large Lounge Bar which ought to be called a "Backstage" where the theatre patrons and actors can mix and mingle after each performance. We did, and we enjoyed meeting the cast.

This is something quite unusual and I would like to see more of it in LIC. Hats off to Sofia Landon Geier, Producing Artistic Director, Unity Stage Company 917-548-1086.

Thanks also to Pat Dorfman, who proves once again that what goes around, comes around.

Loyalties by John Galsworthy, a British drama by the author of The Forsyte Saga, is being performed by the Unity Stage Company at The Parlor at Cassino Restaurant on Thursday through Saturdays during January 2010 at 8:00 PM.
