Full Description: Guardian Data Destruction provides ON SITE Data Erasure performed Guardian Data Destruction (GDD).

Our unique Mobile Audit and Erasure TRUCK comes to your facility. Your IT equipment never leaves the premises.

Guardian Data Destruction eliminates the risk of even a single data breach that could arise during transport from your facility. We provide 100 percent erasure ON SITE, securely, using proprietary Department of Defense (DOD)-level certified hard drive data sweep equipment (4-pass wipe and additional wipes if required). Our process ensures that your sensitive data is protected. Your assets never leave the site. Information cannot be retrieved.

All equipment is wiped, tagged and ultimately ready for disposition, recycling or remarketing. We ensure regulatory compliance for all IT products by wiping hard drives ON SITE.

Based in Long Island City, GDD serves clients from DC to Boston and can wipe up to 400 hard drives per day. Service will be offered in Seattle and Dallas markets later this year. GDD is bonded and insured.

Mobile Hard-Drive Data Erasure

GDD Mobile IT Lab arrives at location and performs hard-drive erasure, ensuring data is completely wiped before equipment ever leaves site. Our bonded and certified technician powers up each item and performs a 3, 4 or 7-pass DOD overwrite (depending upon security requirements). A Certificate of Destruction is provided, confirming data has been removed. Up to 400 pieces of equipment can be wiped per day.

Asset Transport & Logistics

Our experienced team can provide removal, packing and transportation of any IT equipment to any location within the US and Canada. After Data Scrubbing is performed, GDD can transport equipment back to leasing company or relocate it to any office or personnel.

EPA-Approved Recycling

Our national EPA-Compliant, Non-Landfill Recycling Program is the most effective and environmentally safe way to dispose of obsolete or end-of-life computers.

Media Shredding

Absolute destruction services can be performed off site for all types of hard drives or media tapes. This service can be customized to meet any security requirements.

Asset Audit & Reporting

At site, GDD provides a live, real-time Asset Audit and Report detailing each piece of IT equipment. In addition, GDD can remove any physical tags from assets eliminating visible identity.

Community Service

Understanding a growing need for personal protection against Identity Theft and computer recycling, GDD offers community and fund raising events for towns, schools or local organizations. Our Mobile IT Truck spends a day at a local site allowing residents to destroy personal hard drives and computer equipment for a fee, a percentage of which is donated back to local organization.

Full Description: The Foundry is a 19th Century building that housed The Albra Metal Foundry (their logo is still visible on the corner of the building at 9th Street and 43rd Avenue). By 1906, it was one of several steel foundries in the Long Island City area that catered to the needs of New York City's riverfront manufacturers. By the 1970's The Foundry was essentially an abandoned space, housing defunct vehicles and a mountain of debris. In 1980, the Du Val family purchased the property. They restored and renovated the space to reflect its original industrial character, and began hosting events in 2001. It is the only foundry in the area still standing today.

It's the Waterfront Crabhouse in Long Island City, Queens, which is where Ring 8, the New York City chapter of the veteran boxers association holds its monthly meetings.

It's nice to get together and see familiar faces to sit down and talk about the good old days", says Bobby Bartels, a former main event welterweight and now the president of ring 8. "We laugh we kid each other. I can walk in and say to a guy, what are you, punchy? And we get a good laugh. But only a fighter can say that to another fighter. Nobody else".

Indeed, boxing is a unique fraternity, and the monthly meetings provide the fighters with an evening during which they return to the spotlight. While the camaraderie is heartwarming, the organization's purpose extends far beyond that of a social club.
"Our goal is to help the indigent fighter", said Bartels, "we help out whenever we can the motto here is boxers helping boxers'

The organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and its legacy of good deeds goes back decades. But for all its noble endeavors, the club was fading until Tony Mazzarella, who owns the Waterfront Crabhouse Restaurant, offered to host meetings in 1993. Since then Ring 8 has thrived. It has approximately 5400 dues-paying members, and one third of the memberships are fighters.

In addition to the membership benefits, the organization also helps with expenses such as rent, utilities and groceries on a per-need basis.

The meetings begin informally, at the restaurants bar where Mazzarella has assembled on to the finest collections of boxing memorabilia south of Canastota. The crowd mingles until the official start of the meetings, which are held upstairs in the catering facility, where Mazzarella and his staff provide a hot buffet.

"It's very gratifying to be involved", said Mazzarella, a former member of the New York State Athletic Commission and now a promoter." a guy will walk into a meeting, rush across the room to another guy and say "I fought you 40 years ago in Sunnyside". You hit me with a helluva hook in the second round' and the next thing you know they are slapping each other on the back. To me that is a special bond that you don't see too often"

A visit to a meeting offers a true slice of the big apple. There are guest speakers each month, and at any given meeting, one could find themselves seated amongst a Pulitzer prize-winning columnist, a former member of the New York Knicks, a U.S. congressman, or a movie director.

The main attraction, tough, is the fighters. They have great stories to tell and it doesn't take much to get them rolling. All the fighters are approachable and will often sign autographs and pose for pictures."

1. R.I.P. boxers were acknowledged:

A. Roland LaStarza: LaStarza fought 66 professional bouts from July 7, 1947 to May 8, 1961. His career record was 57-9-0 (27). The most important fight of LaStarza's career was a world heavyweight championship bout, and a rematch against Marciano on September 24, 1953. La Starza fought Marciano on even terms for the first six rounds but began to tire afterwards. Referee Ruby Goldstein stopped the fight in the eleventh round TKO as Marciano battered La Starza relentlessly. This was La Starza's first fight (out of 53) when he was stopped.

B. Jerry Tomasetti: As a pro, Tomasetti posted a 13-6 record with nine knockouts from 1959 to 1968. He had memorable bouts against Dante Cane in 1967 and 1968 which drew an overflow crowd in Scranton . The scrappy heavyweight also battled Chuck Wepner four times, including twice at Madison Square Garden and another at the Felt Forum in New York. For his athletic achievement, he was enshrined in the Northeast Region Sports Hall of Fame, the Luzerne County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame.

2. Our special guest this evening was Leon Spinks: Leon represented the United States as a light heavyweight boxer in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal and won the Gold medal. On February 15, 1978, in only his eighth professional fight, Spinks out pointed Muhammad Ali over 15 rounds to capture the world heavyweight title. Spinks lost the title back to Ali just seven months later.
