| Description: | I was born in Staten Island, NY, am a life-long New Yorker and current resident of Long Island City. I am the youngest child of two Greek immigrants who through their hard work and the opportunities available to them in this great city have achieved the American dream. My parents serve as an inspiration to me as I, just one generation later, am pursuing public service in order to give back to the community that has rewarded my family so greatly. I want as many people as possible to be able to achieve the same success. I attended the Albert Nerken School of Engineering at the Cooper Union in Manhattan where I earned a Bachelors of Engineering degree. There I was an ardent student leader as Chairman of the Engineering Student Council and Student Representative to the College Board of Trustees - among other elected posts. I was awarded Cooper Union’s Service to the School Award and directed unprecedented student fundraising efforts resulting in the largest Class Gift in Cooper Union’s 150-year history. I am currently employed as a business analyst for Credit Suisse in Manhattan. My engineering background and real business experience have equipped me to produce results in order to improve quality of life in our community and bring about real change in City Hall. The mission of my candidacy is to bring common sense, new ideas, and diversity to the City Council. My priorities are to make our government function more efficiently – thus using your tax dollars wisely, help small businesses grow, create new job opportunities, improve our community’s education, and create additional affordable housing for the people of our community. |
