ANNOUNCES ITS UPCOMING WINTER EVENTS
WINTER EVENTS INCLUDE HISTORY ROUNDTABLES, SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT THE MOVIES AND A DOCUMENTARY
A series of events are planned by The Greater Astoria Historical Society for January and February. All of the events listed are free and take place at the GAHS.
HISTORY ROUNDTABLE: Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 1:00pm
“The Civil Rights Movement”
This exciting new program focuses on a specific topic that correlates with an historic date within the month. The “Civil Rights Movement” commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Film footage and group discussions of the Civil Rights Movement will celebrate the legacy of this non-violent activist.
The Greater Astoria Historical Society, chartered in 1985, is a non-profit organization supported by the Long Island City community. It is dedicated to preserving the past and using it to promote the community's future. The Society hosts field trips, walking tours, slide presentations, and guest lectures to schools and the public.
The GAHS is located at 35-20 Broadway, 4th Floor, Queens New York and is open every Saturday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and Wednesday from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.
